NATO, Rutte: ‘A defensive alliance, but we will do whatever is necessary to protect ourselves’

Brussels, 15 October (LaPresse) – ‘NATO is a defensive alliance. It will remain a defensive alliance, but there is no doubt: this defensive alliance is ready to do whatever is necessary to ensure the security of our billion people and our territory.’ This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at a press conference following the Defence Ministerial meeting in Brussels. “Today, ministers reiterated that we are increasing investment in defence, boosting defence production and stepping up our support in Ukraine, that our armed forces have the tools and authority they need to do their job, and that we continue to adapt as necessary. We are taking the necessary measures to increase the costs for those who might test us and to make it clear to any potential adversary that our determination is certain,” Rutte remarked.
