Turin, 16 October (LaPresse) – In his speech at the state ceremony celebrating Remembrance Day on 7 October at Mount Herzl, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that ‘great challenges’ from Israel’s enemies, as well as ‘great opportunities’ for peace, await us with the end of the war in Gaza. Praising the military successes of the war, Netanyahu said, ‘Great challenges still await us from our enemies who are seeking to rearm,’ in what could be a reference to the Tehran regime, whose nuclear facilities were attacked by Israel in June. ‘Great challenges – and with them, dramatic and great opportunities to expand the circle of peace,’ he emphasises, reiterating that Israel is ready to expand normalisation and peace agreements with neighbouring Arab countries after the war. Netanyahu adds that national unity is necessary to move forward: “We are operating on both levels simultaneously, and what is needed is unity: unity in war and unity in peace. We will achieve all our goals. Only through internal cohesion, mutual responsibility and the strengthening of the bonds that unite rather than divide.” This is reported by The Times of Israel.
