Lebanon, UNIFIL: ‘Israeli attack on our patrol, no injuries or damage’

Rome, 26 October (LaPresse) – “This afternoon, at around 5:45 p.m., an Israeli drone approached a UNIFIL patrol operating near Kfar Kila and dropped a grenade. Moments later, an Israeli tank fired on the peacekeepers. Fortunately, there were no injuries or damage to UNIFIL personnel or resources.” The UN mission reported this on its X profile, specifying that the peacekeeping forces applied the necessary defensive countermeasures to neutralise the drone. ‘These actions by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) violate Security Council Resolution 1701 and Lebanon’s sovereignty,“ UNIFIL wrote, ‘and demonstrate contempt for the safety of peacekeepers engaged in carrying out the tasks entrusted to them by the Security Council in southern Lebanon”.
