Spain, Sanchez: ‘8 billion already transferred for recovery from Dana’

Madrid (Spain), 29 October (LaPresse) – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez reported that of the £16.6 billion mobilised by the Spanish government for the response and reconstruction after Dana, approximately £8 billion has already been transferred, ‘a figure equal to 10% of the GDP of the province of Valencia’. This means, said the socialist leader in the Congress of Deputies during the government control session, that “compensation has been given to more than 200,000 families and businesses”, “we have protected 34,000 workers and supported the 78 municipalities affected with 1.8 billion for the reconstruction of infrastructure”, “yesterday we also approved a new aid package in the Council of Ministers to revive the economy” of the most affected areas and “strengthen their resilience” in the face of possible new disasters.
