Milan, 30 October (LaPresse) – With 98.9% of votes counted, the Dutch centrist liberal party D66, led by 38-year-old Rob Jetten, has taken a lead of almost 15,000 votes over the Party for Freedom (PVV) led by anti-Islam leader Geert Wilders, following the release of provisional results from Amsterdam. This was reported by the Dutch press. Geert Wilders’ party had a slight lead, but lost it after Amsterdam published the new provisional results. In Amsterdam, the most voted party was GroenLinks-Pvd, just ahead of D66. Only 6.9% of the inhabitants of the Dutch capital voted for the PVV. This result allows D66 to make a significant leap forward in the race to become the leading party in the Netherlands. D66 now has 14,730 more votes than Wilders’ PVV.
