USA-China, Beijing: “Washington must respect the ban on nuclear tests”

Beijing, Oct. 30 (LaPresse) – “China hopes that the United States will seriously respect its obligations under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and its commitment to suspend nuclear tests, and take concrete measures to safeguard the international nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation system, as well as maintain global strategic balance and stability.” This was stated by the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guo Jiakun, after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered the immediate resumption of U.S. nuclear tests. Trump also stated that the United States possesses the largest nuclear arsenal in the world and that China could reach the U.S. level within five years.
