Russia: Khabarovsk submarine launched, capable of transporting the Poseidon

Milan, 1 November (LaPresse) – The launch of the Khabarovsk nuclear submarine took place today in Severodvinsk, in subarctic Russia, under the leadership of Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov. This was reported by the ministry itself, as reported by Tass. ‘Today is a significant event for us: the nuclear-powered heavy missile cruiser Khabarovsk is being launched,’ said the head of the Russian military department. ‘This event had been expected for several days,’ said Alexander Mikhailov, head of the Political-Military Analysis Office, ‘there had been reports that the launch of the Khabarovsk submarine would be scheduled for 1 November. The submarine carries a new type of deep-sea vehicle: the Poseidon strategic nuclear weapon.’
