Washington (US), 5 Nov. (LaPresse/AP) – The shutdown, or blockage of the US federal administration, has entered its 36th day, setting a new record in the country’s history. President Donald Trump has refused to negotiate with Democrats on their demands to save expiring health insurance subsidies until they agree to reopen the government. But sceptical Democrats question whether the Republican president will keep his word, especially after the administration limited SNAP food aid, despite court orders guaranteeing the availability of funds to prevent hunger. Trump, whose first term in the White House set the previous record for days of shutdown, will meet with Republican senators for a working breakfast this morning. No talks with Democrats are planned.
