Japan: tsunami warning lifted after 6.9 magnitude earthquake

Tokyo (Japan), 9 Nov. (LaPresse/AP) – The Japan Meteorological Agency lifted the tsunami warning about three hours after the initial tremor of the powerful 6.9 magnitude earthquake that shook northern Japan, off the coast of Iwate Prefecture, at 5.03 p.m. Japanese time. However, the meteorological agency specified that the area remains at risk of strong earthquakes for about a week, especially in the next two or three days. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, nor were there any reports of abnormalities at the two nuclear power plants in the area.
