Milan, 10 Nov. (LaPresse) – Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has left La Santé prison in Paris’s 14th arrondissement in a car with tinted windows, escorted by police motorcyclists. This was reported by the broadcaster Bfmtv. Sarkozy left prison after the Paris Court of Appeal granted him parole. Less than three weeks ago, he began serving a five-year sentence for criminal association aimed at financing his 2007 election campaign with funds from Libya. Sarkozy’s black car with tinted windows was seen leaving the prison and heading towards his home in western Paris. The 70-year-old former president is prohibited from leaving French territory and from contacting key individuals, including co-defendants and witnesses in the case. The appeal trial is expected to take place later, probably in the spring.
