India: Police arrest several suspects in Kashmir after explosion New Delhi

The authorities have announced that they are investigating the incident as a possible act of terrorism, a move that gives investigative authorities greater powers to arrest or detain people. The Red Fort, a major tourist attraction, is a 17th-century monument and the place where, every year on 15 August, the Indian Prime Minister delivers his Independence Day speech. If confirmed as a deliberate attack, it would be the deadliest explosion in the Indian capital since 2011. At least five people were detained for questioning in a series of night raids in the southern district of Pulwama, Kashmir, police officials said on Wednesday. Police did not comment, citing the ongoing investigation.
