France: threatening emails, Charlie Hebdo reports for condoning terrorism

Milan, 14 November (LaPresse) – The management of the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo has filed a complaint for ‘apology for terrorism’ after receiving a threatening email regarding their latest cover. A tobacconist has been arrested, according to Bfmtv. According to the Annecy public prosecutor’s office, the threatening email is linked to the 12 November cover of Charlie Hebdo and has no formal connection with the commemoration of the 13 November attacks. This cover depicted Salah Abdeslam naked, in a sexual position, with another figure identified as “God”. However, the public prosecutor’s office clarified to Bfmtv that ‘since the facts reported are not of a public nature, they cannot, at this stage, be legally classified as glorification of terrorism’.
