Gaza, Russia rejects US draft resolution at the UN and proposes its own

Milan, 14 November (LaPresse) – Russia has rejected the US draft resolution of the UN Security Council on the international stabilisation force in Gaza and has presented its own draft resolution on the Strip. This was reported by journalist Barak Ravid of Axios, who also published the Russian draft. The text calls on ‘the Secretary-General to identify options for effectively implementing the provisions of the aforementioned comprehensive plan and to report back to the Security Council promptly, including options for the deployment of an international stabilisation force in the Gaza Strip’ and calls for ‘full, rapid, safe and unimpeded humanitarian access’. The text also ‘rejects any attempt at demographic or territorial change in the Gaza Strip, including actions that reduce the territory of the Gaza Strip’ and ‘reaffirms its firm commitment to the vision of a two-state solution, in which two democratic states, Israel and Palestine, live side by side in peace within secure and recognised borders, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions’.
