Ukraine, Tajani: “No agreement possible without the EU and Kiev”

Milan, Nov 23 (LaPresse) – “Trump’s peace plan? It’s just a basis, a starting point. It requires the agreement of Kiev and the European Union. After all, only Brussels can lift the sanctions.” This is what Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said in an interview with La Stampa regarding the US proposal for peace between Ukraine and Russia. Tajani does not believe that Putin is “in a hurry; perhaps he wants to conclude before the coldest winter arrives, but it will still take weeks.” For Tajani, “peace is between the Russians and the Ukrainians,” and it is therefore “obvious that Kiev must have a role; the Ukrainians must decide what they accept and what they want to change.” Furthermore, “it is impossible to think of finding an agreement without Europe, simply because Europe imposed sanctions on Russia, so without the Union’s agreement, peace cannot be made,” added the leader of Forza Italia.
