Frankfurt (Germany), 25 Nov. (LaPresse) – The United States ‘has shown itself to be surprisingly flexible and ready to integrate the points raised by the Europeans’ in the negotiating proposal on Ukraine. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul at the Berlin Foreign Policy Forum. ‘When the first draft arrived on the table, we immediately picked up the phone and spoke,’ he said. Wadephul explained that he had received direct reassurances: ‘Steve Witkoff told me personally that they were ready to include these issues in a solution concept.’ According to the minister, the current US administration ‘has an unorthodox way of dealing with issues of this kind, but is then flexible and ready to meet the negotiating partners and other actors involved, including us, halfway.’ Wadephul reiterated that Germany aims to keep the United States ‘engaged in NATO and Europe’ and that this orientation ‘is also reflected in the current situation.’
