Ukraine, Kallas: “Pressure on Moscow for a peace deal, continue with sanctions”

Brussels, Dec. 4 (LaPresse) – “The OSCE was not created out of nothing, but because we all paid the price for historical experiences. In the last 100 years, Russia has invaded at least 19 countries, many of which are sitting at this table, some even three or four times, but none of these 19 countries have ever invaded or attacked Russia. Therefore, in any peace agreement, we must focus on how to obtain concessions from the Russian side so that the aggression and desire to change borders by force cease,” said EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas at the 32nd OSCE Annual Conference in Vienna.

“The European Union will stay the course, because only increased pressure on Russia and greater support for Ukraine will shift the balance and maintain some hope for peace,” she stressed. “It is essential to reduce Russia’s ability to finance its war machine. The 19th sanctions package has been adopted, and work on the next package continues. Of course, we understand it is painful. We all suffer because of it, but we all want this war to end, and for that we need to join efforts and act collectively. Wars end when the aggressors run out of funds to finance them.”
