Ukraine, Macron meets Xi in Beijing: pressure for ceasefire

Beijing, Dec. 4 (LaPresse) – French President Emmanuel Macron is in Beijing for high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, aiming to persuade China to help ensure a ceasefire in Ukraine while also addressing growing trade tensions between Europe and the world’s second-largest economy. Macron and his wife Brigitte were welcomed in the Great Hall of the People. The Chinese president called for “stronger” ties with France. Xi stated that China is willing to cooperate with France “to exclude any interference” and “make the global strategic partnership between China and France more stable.”
