Ukraine, Medvedev: ‘EU theft of Russian assets could be a casus belli’

Milan, 4 December (LaPresse) – ‘If the European Union, in a state of panic, attempts to steal Russian assets frozen in Belgium by issuing a so-called reparation loan, such actions could be classified under international law as a particular form of casus belli, with all the consequences that would entail for Brussels and for individual EU countries.’ This is what Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, wrote on social media. ‘And then the return of these funds could take place not through the courts, but through actual reparations paid in kind by Russia’s defeated enemies,’ he added.
