Ukraine: von der Leyen approves strong signal to Moscow, Kiev stronger

Brussels, 12 December (LaPresse) – “I welcome the Council’s decision on our proposal to continue freezing Russian sovereign assets. We are sending a strong signal to Russia: as long as this brutal war of aggression continues, the costs for Russia will continue to rise. This is a powerful message for Ukraine. We want to ensure that our brave neighbour becomes even stronger on the battlefield and at the negotiating table.” This was posted on social media by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen after the approval of the indefinite freezing of Russian assets, without the six-monthly renewal of sanctions.
