Sudan: 6 peacekeepers killed in drone attack on UN base

Cairo (Egypt), Dec. 13 (LaPresse/AP) – A drone attack has hit a United Nations facility in Sudan, killing six peacekeepers. UN Secretary-General António Guterres said the strike targeted the logistics base of the UN peacekeeping forces in the city of Kadugli, in the central Kordofan region. Eight other peacekeepers were wounded in the attack. All the victims are Bangladeshi nationals serving with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA). “Attacks against United Nations peacekeepers may constitute war crimes under international law,” Guterres stated, calling for those responsible for the “unjustifiable” attack to be held accountable.
