Rome, 13 December (LaPresse) – “We must avoid an agreement that puts Ukraine in such a position of weakness that it facilitates future Russian aggression. Putin wants to reduce Ukraine’s defensive capabilities so that he can attack it again in the future. The best guarantee of security for Ukraine is a strong army. At the same time, we must help Ukraine become a successful country after peace, including through integration into the EU, which I believe is possible.” This was stated in an interview with La Stampa by European Commissioner for Defence and Space, Andrius Kubilius. “We must strengthen cyber defence in particular and respond in a proportionate and decisive manner. The European Parliament is calling for our responses to be effective and severe. My mandate includes the development of a joint cyber defence project, and Minister Crosetto’s report is a good starting point,” he concluded.
