Turin, 27 December (LaPresse) – ‘We welcome all efforts aimed at achieving our common goal: a just and lasting peace that preserves Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and strengthens the country’s security and defence capabilities as an integral part of our continent’s security.’ This was stated by European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen in a post published on X at the end of a video call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other European leaders, ahead of tomorrow’s summit in Florida between Zelensky and US President Donald Trump. ‘In 2026, the EU Commission will continue to put pressure on the Kremlin, support Ukraine and work intensively to accompany it on its path towards EU membership,’ she added.
