Iran: member of security forces killed during demonstration

Rome, Jan. 3 (LaPresse) – A member of an Iranian paramilitary force has been killed during a demonstration in the western part of the country. The Mehr news agency reports this on the seventh day of economic protests that have spread to include political demands. “Ali Azizi, a member of the Basij, was killed after being stabbed and shot dead in the city of Harsin during a gathering of armed rioters,” Mehr states, citing a declaration by the Revolutionary Guards, the ideological arm of the army that oversees the Basij.
