Crans-Montana, all 116 injured in the fire identified

Milan, Jan. 5 (LaPresse) – All 116 people injured in the fire that broke out on New Year’s Eve at the Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, have been identified. This was announced by the Prosecutor’s Office of Valais in a press release. Eighty-three of them remain hospitalized. The identification operations were carried out by the Valais Cantonal Police, the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Unit, and the Institute of Legal Medicine. Among the injured are 21 Swiss women, 47 Swiss men, 10 French women, 11 French men, 4 Italian women, 6 Italian men, 2 Polish women, 1 Belgian woman, 1 Portuguese woman, 1 Czech woman, 4 Serbs, 1 Australian, 1 Bosnian, 1 Congolese man, 1 Luxembourger, and 4 men with dual nationality (France/Finland, Switzerland/Belgium, France/Italy, Italy/Philippines). Initially, there were 119 injured reported, but three had been mistakenly included in the count. The Federal Office for Civil Protection (FOCP) informed the Keystone-SDA news agency that 38 injured were transferred to hospitals and clinics abroad: seven to Belgium and Germany, 16 to France, and eight to Italy.
