Milan, 7 January (LaPresse) – The Trump administration has informed Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodriguez, that Caracas must meet the White House’s demands before it can increase oil production, the first of which is to cut economic ties with China, Russia, Iran and Cuba. ABC News reports this exclusively, citing three people close to the Trump administration. Secondly, the broadcaster continues, Venezuela must agree to cooperate exclusively with the United States on oil production and favour the US in the sale of heavy crude oil. According to a source cited by ABC, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a private meeting with lawmakers on Monday that Washington estimates that Caracas has only a couple of weeks before it becomes financially insolvent without the sale of its oil reserves.
