Rome, 8 January. (LaPresse) – Manslaughter and arson are the charges on which the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the Crans-Montana fire, in which 40 people died and 116 were injured at “Le Constellation” in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, on the night between 31 December and 1 January. The Valais Canton Public Prosecutor’s Office, coordinated by Beatrice Pilloud, is investigating for manslaughter, injury and arson. The only suspects at this stage are Jacques Moretti and his wife Jessica Maric, managers of the disco-bar where the fire is believed to have been caused by sparklers. Swiss investigators are also looking into the failure to comply with safety measures and fire regulations and the checks that the municipality of Crans-Montana should have carried out between 2020 and 2025.
