Milan, 8 January (LaPresse) – US Vice President JD Vance said that Denmark has ‘obviously’ not done an adequate job of protecting Greenland and that President Donald Trump ‘is willing to go all the way’ to defend American interests in the Arctic. In an interview with Fox News, Vance reiterated Trump’s claim that Greenland is critical to both US and global national security because ‘the entire missile defence infrastructure depends in part on Greenland.’ He added that the fact that Denmark was a loyal military ally of the United States during World War II and the more recent ‘war on terror’ does not necessarily mean that it is doing enough to protect Greenland today. ‘Just because you did something smart 25 years ago doesn’t mean you can’t do something stupid now,’ Vance said, adding that Trump ‘is saying very clearly: “You’re not doing a good job with Greenland”.’
