United Kingdom, BBC: ‘Andrea sold villa to oligarch linked to corruption’

Milan, 8 January (LaPresse) – An investigation by the British broadcaster BBC has discovered that Andrea Mountbatten-Windsor sold his villa for millions of pounds to an oligarch who paid him with money from funds originating from Enviro Pacific Investments, a company implicated in criminal corruption cases. Kazakh billionaire Timur Kulibayev told the BBC, through his lawyers, that he used a loan from Enviro Pacific Investments to purchase Andrea’s former villa. The oligarch purchased Sunninghill Park in Berkshire from the then prince for £15 million, with the help of Enviro Pacific funds. Kulibayev is the son-in-law of former Kazakh President Nazarbayev and was one of the most influential officials in the Central Asian country’s oil and gas sector. According to the BBC, Kulibayev paid £3 million more than the asking price and about £7 million more than the market value of the property.
