Venezuela, CNN: “Thursday at the White House — Trump‑Machado meeting”

Washington (USA), Jan. 12 (LaPresse) – Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado will meet U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday at the White House, a senior U.S. administration official told CNN. The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize laureate’s visit comes after President Trump had previously declined to support her following U.S. military actions in Caracas and the capture of Nicolás Maduro. Today, Machado was received at the Vatican by Pope Leo XIV, to whom she “asked to intercede for all Venezuelans who have been kidnapped or disappeared.”
