Mercosur: von der Leyen, welcome to the world’s largest market

Turin, Jan. 16 (LaPresse) – “The EU-Mercosur agreement sends a powerful message. It says: welcome to the world’s largest market and the largest free trade area on the planet. This is the strength of partnership and openness. This is the strength of friendship and understanding between peoples and regions across oceans. And this is how we create real prosperity, a prosperity that is shared.“ This was stated by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at a press conference in Rio de Janeiro with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. ”Because, we agree, international trade is not a zero-sum game. Everyone can and should benefit from it, in terms of new jobs, better opportunities, and higher incomes. We want a world that works on trust and teamwork. This is Europe’s ambition. And I know it is yours too,” she added, addressing the Brazilian president.
