Gaza, Orban: ‘Hungary on the Board, Ukraine is the problem for Europe’

Rome, 23 January (LaPresse) – ‘Europe wants to continue the war in Ukraine,’ says Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in an interview with Corriere della Sera. Orbán is the only leader of a European Union member state, along with Bulgaria, represented by outgoing Prime Minister Rosen Zeljazkov, to have agreed to be part of it. When asked why his is the only EU country to sit on this board, he replied: ‘Why aren’t the others there? That’s the right question.’ As for Italy, “I discussed the Board of Peace, which is more concerned with Gaza, with Giorgia (Meloni, ed.). She explained to me how constitutionally difficult it is for Italy to join international organisations. For Hungary, the regulations are simpler.‘ Is it just a constitutional issue for the others? ’I don’t know. Who knows? But that’s not the point. Brussels doesn’t want peace. At least not in Ukraine. The major European countries want to continue the war in Ukraine. That’s the problem. Every day, hundreds of people are dying. And we should change this situation.”
