Ukraine, Zakharova: ‘Zelensky attacks civilians to sabotage negotiations’

Turin, 28 January (LaPresse) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wants to disrupt any peace negotiations with terrorist attacks and raids against civilians. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova to Sputnik, as quoted by the Tass agency. Zelensky ‘strikes not out of military necessity or based on the logic of the situation on the battlefield,’ Zakharova said. ‘The attacks are carried out precisely against the civilian population and social structures. These are not just attacks, but terrorist attacks. There are various reasons for such behaviour,’ she stressed. ‘Firstly, this is undoubtedly an attempt to disrupt and derail any discussion and progress towards peace. We are not even discussing the status of the talks or the final draft of the peace process at this stage. Any progress in this area provokes such a reaction,’ Zakharova added. ‘As soon as any work in this area begins, this is what happens,’ she concluded.
