Gaza, 12 dead in Israeli raid: children among the victims

Deir Al-Balah, Jan. 31 (LaPresse) – At least 12 Palestinians have died in Israeli raids on the Gaza Strip today. Shifa and Nasser hospitals in Gaza reported that several of the dead are children. This is one of the heaviest death tolls since the October agreement aimed at ending the fighting.

The attacks hit an apartment building in Gaza City and a tent in Khan Younis, according to hospital officials who received the bodies. Shifa Hospital stated that the attack in Gaza City killed a mother, three children, and one of their relatives, while Nasser Hospital reported that an attack on a tent camp caused a fire that killed seven people, including a father, his three children, and three grandchildren.

Gaza’s Ministry of Health has recorded more than 500 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire since the start of the ceasefire on October 10. The ministry, part of the Hamas-led government, keeps detailed records of the victims, which are generally considered reliable by United Nations agencies and independent experts.
