Iran, Khamenei pardons 919 prisoners for anniversary of Islamic Revolution

Rome, 10 February (LaPresse) – Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has pardoned 919 prisoners on the occasion of tomorrow’s anniversary celebrations of the Islamic Revolution, accepting the request of the head of the Iranian judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei. This was reported by Irna. The 919 prisoners who have been definitively convicted will be released from prison “if they have not committed other crimes and have no other convictions”. Another 1,189 prisoners have had their sentences reduced or commuted.
