USA: El Paso airspace closed for 10 days for “security reasons”

El Paso (Texas, USA), 11 February (LaPresse/AP) – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is closing the airspace around El Paso International Airport in Texas, USA, for 10 days, blocking all flights to and from the airport. A notice posted on the FAA website states that the temporary flight restrictions are due to “special security reasons”, but does not provide further details. The closure does not include Mexican airspace. The airport said in an Instagram post that all flights to and from the airport would be suspended from last night until late on 20 February, including commercial, cargo and general aviation flights. It advised travellers to contact their airlines for up-to-date flight information.
