Navalny, UK: ‘Only Russia had the means and motive to poison him, now measures must be taken’

Milan, 15 February (LaPresse) – The United Kingdom wants measures to be taken after it was proven that Russia killed political prisoner Alexei Navalny with a frog poison. This was stated by British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper in an interview with the BBC. Russian opposition leader Navalny, the main opponent of Russian President Vladimir Putin, died suddenly two years ago, on 16 February 2024, in the Siberian prison where he was being held. Following analyses carried out in European laboratories using samples taken from Navalny’s body and smuggled out of the prison, five countries have now confirmed that the opposition leader died from an unknown poison developed from a toxin found in Ecuadorian dart frogs. According to Cooper, only the Russian government had the “means, motive and opportunity” to use this poison.
