Iran, Tehran: ‘US should avoid exaggerating its demands’

Rome, 27 February (LaPresse) – During a telephone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed the talks held with the US in Geneva, mediated by Oman. Araghchi – according to Iranian news agencies – stated that ‘the success of the diplomatic route requires seriousness and realism on the part of the other side, as well as avoiding any miscalculation or exaggeration.’ Araghchi had previously stated in an interview with the Irna news agency that the talks in Switzerland had entered ‘a more serious and in-depth phase’ in which both sides had addressed ‘key elements that could form the basis of an agreement’. Araghchi added that ‘there is agreement on most of these elements’ but that more in-depth talks are needed on ‘how to address them’.
