Frankfurt (Germany), 2 March (LaPresse) – ‘We are monitoring the global situation very closely to understand what the economic consequences may be.’ This was stated by the President of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, speaking at the ECB event “Bridging the gender gap in financial literacy” on International Women’s Day 2026. ‘We are focused on an important topic with a positive agenda. All of this is part of a particular global situation that we must recognise and that we are monitoring closely to understand what the economic consequences may be,’ Lagarde explained, stressing that ‘as is often the case, difficulties disproportionately affect women, and it would not be surprising if this happened again.’
