Rome, Mar. 3 (LaPresse) – The Russian embassy in Italy, in a post, responds to what was stated in an interview on March 2 by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, according to whom the crisis of international law would be “the result of the Russian aggression against Ukraine”. “While remaining consistent with the logic of the Italian Prime Minister, we can nevertheless offer a more accurate explanation – the embassy writes on Facebook – in our view, the source of the current crisis of the system of international law lies in the lie with which Western leaders seek to justify their reckless attacks on the Charter of the United Nations, starting with their brutal and unprovoked armed aggression against independent member states of the United Nations: Yugoslavia (1999), Iraq (2003), Libya (2011) and now Iran (2026)”. “The current position of the West regarding the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis, which broke out in 2014 following a bloody coup and the subsequent war unleashed by Kyiv against part of its own Russian-speaking population residing in Donbass and Novorossiya, as well as following the sabotage by the West of the Minsk agreements, enshrined in United Nations Security Council Resolution 2202 (2015), is also based on lies, that is, on a direct violation of one of the norms of international law”, the embassy concludes.
