Rome, 3 March (LaPresse) – There is a risk that the EU and the US, focused on the Middle East, will forget the issue of Ukrainian defence, ‘but I hope that the Iranian crisis remains a limited operation and does not turn into a long war. We know very well from our own experience how bloody it can be’. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with Il Corriere della Sera. Regarding British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s proposal that Ukrainian military drone experts could collaborate with their British counterparts for the defence of Europe and its allies, Zelensky explained: “I have not discussed this with Starmer or other leaders in the Middle East or the Gulf. We are in the middle of a war here, but we remain open: we have excellent specialists in drone warfare and we are ready to share our knowledge with our allies, from Britain and the United States to Italy, France, Germany…‘ He added that Ukraine is ’your defence and Europeans understand this well, they have been helping us since the beginning of the conflict. You can see it now in the Middle East: aircraft and missiles are not enough against Iranian drones. Those who invest in our drone industries will receive our knowledge and experience in the field in return.”
