Iran, telephone call between Putin and Pezeshkian: ‘In favour of rapid de-escalation’

Rome, 10 March (LaPresse) – Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone with his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian. This was announced by the Kremlin. The two leaders had already spoken on 6 March. During the current conversation, according to a statement reported by Tass, “the discussion on the situation in the Middle East in relation to the Israeli-American aggression against Iran continued”. “The Russian president reiterated his principled position in favour of a rapid de-escalation of the conflict and its resolution through political means,” the Kremlin press office reported. Pezeshkian, according to the Kremlin statement, ‘thanked Russia for its support, in particular for providing humanitarian aid to Iran.’ Finally, Putin stressed that he is ‘in constant contact with the leaders of the countries that are part of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.’
