Iran, NYT: “Mojtaba Khamenei injured and in a safe location”

New York (USA), Mar 11 (LaPresse) – Mojtaba Khamenei is injured and has taken refuge in a safe location. This is reported by the New York Times, citing Iranian officials. Proclaimed successor to his father, who was killed, as Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared on video or in public, nor has he issued written statements. One reason, officials explain, is concern that any communication could reveal his location and put him in danger. Another factor is that the 56-year-old new Iranian leader was injured on the day of the attack by Israel and the United States. Tehran officials told the NYT that over the past two days some senior government figures reported that Mojtaba Khamenei sustained injuries, including to his legs, but that he is alert and has taken refuge in a highly secure location with limited communications.
