Iran, Axios: “In recent days there have been direct contacts between Witkoff and Araghchi”

Washington (USA), Mar 16 (LaPresse) – In recent days, a direct communication channel has been reactivated between U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Axios, citing a U.S. official and an informed source, reports that this marks the first known direct contact between the parties since the start of the war. The U.S. official and the source said that Araghchi sent text messages to Witkoff focused on ending the conflict. According to the U.S. official, it was Araghchi who was trying to initiate dialogue. The United States, however, told Axios, “is not talking” with Iran.
