Milan, 16 March (LaPresse) – The United States is allowing Iranian oil tankers to transit through the Strait of Hormuz. This was stated by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in an interview with CNBC. ‘Iranian ships have already started to leave and we have allowed this to supply the rest of the world,’ said Bessent, who is in France for trade talks with China. ‘We believe there will be a natural opening on the part of the Iranians, and for now that suits us. We want the world to be well supplied,’ added Bessent, who said the Trump administration believes tanker traffic through the Strait will increase before the US Navy and allied forces begin escorting commercial vessels.
