Iran: Tehran sets out six conditions for ending the war

Milan, 22 March (LaPresse) – Iran has set out six key conditions for ending the conflict with the United States and Israel, outlining what is described as a new ‘legal-strategic’ framework. This was reported by the Iranian news agency Tasmin, citing a senior Iranian political and security official. According to the official, Tehran is implementing a plan drawn up months ago, proceeding ‘with strategic patience’ in its military operations. The official also claimed that, having struck enemy air defences, Iran has gained control of the airspace, ruling out any prospect of an imminent ceasefire at present. Among the conditions set for ending the conflict are: guarantees that the war will not be repeated, the closure of US military bases in the region and the payment of compensation to Iran. Tehran is also calling for an end to hostilities on all regional fronts. Rounding off the list are demands for a new legal framework for the Strait of Hormuz and the extradition of individuals linked to media outlets considered hostile to the country. The official added that mediation proposals had already been put forward by regional actors, but reiterated that Iran’s conditions must be taken seriously.
