Rome, 1 Jan. (LaPresse) – A general strike is underway in parts of the West Bank to protest against a law passed on Monday by the Knesset, which provides for the death penalty by hanging as the default sentence for Palestinians in the West Bank convicted of deadly terrorist acts. The strike was announced yesterday by the Fatah movement led by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and is being observed in the areas of the West Bank governed by the Palestinian Authority.
