Kinshasa (Congo), Apr. 6 (LaPresse) – Congo will receive some migrants under a new agreement provided by the third-country program of the Trump administration. This was announced by the Congolese government. It is the latest African nation to accept migrants deported from the United States. The deportees will begin arriving in Congo this month. The Congolese Ministry of Communications described the agreement as “temporary,” reflecting “Congo’s commitment to human dignity and international solidarity.” It will incur no cost for the government, as the United States will cover the necessary logistics. The Congolese government clarified that no automatic transfer of returnees is planned, adding: “Each situation will be subject to an individual assessment in accordance with the laws of the Republic and national security requirements.”
