Iran: Tehran rejects a temporary ceasefire

Rome, 6 April (LaPresse) – Iran has rejected the idea of a temporary ceasefire, arguing that this would allow its opponents to catch their breath and prepare to resume the conflict. “We call for an end to the war and for measures to prevent its recurrence,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei, according to the Iranian state news agency IRNA, as quoted by CNN. The statements came after Iran and the United States received a draft proposal from mediators calling for a 45-day ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as a possible solution to end the war.
