Rome, 8 April (LaPresse) – Marine Traffic, the global reference website for real-time information on ship movements, reports in a post on X that ‘the first signs of naval activity’ have been recorded in the Strait of Hormuz following the announcement of the ceasefire, which provides for the temporary reopening of the strategic waterway. According to Marine Traffic data, hundreds of ships remain in the region, including 426 oil tankers, 34 LNG carriers and 19 gas carriers, many of which had been stranded during the closure. According to Marine Traffic, the Greek-owned bulk carrier NJ Earth crossed the Strait at 08:44 UTC, whilst the Liberian-flagged Daytona Beach had crossed the Strait at 06:59 UTC shortly after leaving the port of Bandar Abbas.
