Iran: Putin speaks to Pezeshkian: ‘Offer to mediate with the US and Israel’

Frankfurt (Germany), 12 Apr. (LaPresse) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed the latest developments in the Middle East during a telephone conversation. This was reported by the Kremlin press service, as reported by TASS. “The Iranian president gave a positive assessment of the Iranian-American talks held in Islamabad on 11 April,” the statement read. “Masoud Pezeshkian congratulated Vladimir Putin and all Orthodox Christians in Russia on Easter,” the Kremlin reported. “The Iranian president expressed gratitude for the principled stance taken by Russia, including on the international stage, aimed at reducing tensions. Pezeshkian also thanked Putin for the humanitarian aid provided by Russia to the Iranian people,‘ the Kremlin added, noting that ’during the discussion on current issues of bilateral cooperation, the two sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening good-neighbourly relations between Russia and Iran”. Putin expressed to Pezeshkian his willingness to continue mediation efforts to establish lasting peace in the Middle East. Russia will continue to maintain active contacts with all partners in the Middle East to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region, the Kremlin stated.
